For this project, I analyzed Ubisoft Montpellier's Valiant Hearts: The Great War and compared it to a three act narrative arc that was taught in one of my classes. I focused on how Valiant Hearts fit the structure, how it didn't, and how it could be potentially fixed. To find the emotional valence of the narrative for this game, I created an Excel spreadsheet documenting the numerical values of each playable character's emotion during the course of a four hour playthrough. Afterwards, I averaged these values out to find the average emotional valence for Valiant Hearts.
